Ok, so I’m 36 and I NEED my Retinol, so I’m sure all you pregnant ladies who are at “advanced maternal age” (I HATE that saying!) can understand that being pregnant, although amazing and a blessing, is aging! Finding safe skincare products is challenging, but oh so necessary when trying, already pregnant and while breastfeeding.
I will start by saying, I am, in no way, an expert in skin care (especially pregnancy skincare) and I am surely not a chemist — so take my breakdown and research as such. I will try not to put too much technical crap in this since, if you are like me, you will stop reading about a quarter of the way down. Full disclosure, I received the Promise Hydrating Face Cream and Hydrating Facial Cleanser in my Bump Box which was gifted to me and I will be using ALL of it because it was free LOL! One thing to note, the Promise Hydrating Face Cream seemed more like a serum rather than a cream as it absorbed quickly and left my face feeling more dry. Plus, morning and night I would put my facial lotions on after this “cream.”

Promise is a company that advertises trimester specific nutrients and safe pregnancy skincare, although as I divulge more into their website, I find that there are only about 4 skincare products, 2 of which are for stretch marks, and the rest is prenatal vitamins. So, really only 2 facial skincare products in all.
Side note, I’ve done my fair share of research regarding prenatal vitamins as I’ve been through the gamut of infertility treatment – if you are interested in a review of prenatal vitamins please email me.
10 Most Effective Anti-Aging Ingredients for Your Skin include:
- Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen
- Glycolic Acid
- Lactic Acid
- Hyaluronic Acid
- Jojoba Oil
- Vitamin C
These are well defined and explained at:
Below is a table of all the ingredients in both the Promise Face Cream and Facial Cleaners, which I’ve defined.
The three BIG ingredients that the Promise Face Cream has to offer are:
- Hyaluronic Acid
- Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C)
- Jojoba Oil
Though, the Ascorbyl Palmitate is a derivative of vitamin C, which is non irritating and more stable than pure vitamin C, which means it is well suited for extra sensitive skin. So, although this skincare line advertised as a Vitamin C cream/serum, it’s a bit different than the pure vitamin C serums out there.
Most likely you won’t read all of this as it’s quite boring but here is my takeaway:
There are a few ingredients in this product to be noted as anti-aging, although none of their advertisements indicate the percentage of these ingredients (sneaky sneaky!) – a quality skincare product will divulge these numbers. And, although most, if not all, ingredients in these two skincare products are natural and won’t hurt you, it doesn’t seem to really add too much more value to your skin, I mean anymore than splashing some water on your face and putting some drugstore face cream on.
Furthermore, much of these ingredients alone state there is no good scientific evidence to support their uses, which is probably why their products are so inexpensive, comparatively speaking, to other skincare lines.
So, if you are looking for an affordable, safe, healthy, natural and semi anti aging skincare during your pregnancy, this will due, although now you need to find a good day and night cream to go along with it.
